2007 Rack n Roll Robot

View other robots: 2007|2008|2009|2010|2011

What does it do?

This robot is designed to pick up circular tubes of the ground and put them on a rack centered in the playing field.

What does it do in autonomous?

An autonomous program allows the robot to move using sensors and possibly score. This robot has a pop-out platform and ramp that allows other robots to climb the ramp and sit on the platform.

What does it do in teleoperated mode?

The robot can also score during the teleoperated mode with output from the operator interface. The output allows the robot to drive, the arm to go forward and reverse, it allows the gripper to rotate and to open and close, and the platform and ramp to deploy.

What awards did it win?

2007 Duel on the Delaware Winners
Our team entered the Duel on the Delaware and won at Salem Community College in Carney's Point, NJ with a robot that was graciously loaned to us by Team 225. Our objective was to use the competition as a means of giving the students an appreciation of real competition (and the corresponding requirements of robot design) and to develop some driving skills. We were ranked 11th at the end of the qualifying matches but were overlooked during alliance selection, possibly due to being unknown. As things turned out, however, we were asked to substitute for a disabled robot in the final elimination match which our alliance won, 104-59.

When did it compete?

The 2007 Rack n Roll Robot competed in the Chesapeake Regional Competition.
